DESIGN COMPETITION // FRONT ROW SOCIETY - HOMESPUN WISDOM
CREATIVE BRIEF
Submission Deadline: 28 February, 2014, 6pm CET
Voting Starts: 01 March, 2014, 6pm CET
Voting Starts: 01 March, 2014, 6pm CET
Here at Front Row headquarters, we’re the first to agree that digital printing is pretty darn cool – after all, how else would we be able to make all those stunning designs you guys keep sending in?! But we do get a little nostalgic every now and then for simpler times, when prints were made the old fashioned way: manually, through weaving or hand-dying.
Now we’re not going completely mad – we can’t print FRS scarves by hand! That’s why we’re asking you to dive into traditional methods like stamping, stitching, or our current passion, shibori: a Japanese dying method stemming all the way back from the seventh century. From the beautiful indigos and reds found in natural dyes, to the wonderful assortment that arise from these apparently unelaborate printing methods, we want to celebrate every aspect of these homespun crafts.
As always, don't forget that your print might need to be adjusted to fit the appropriate template. All templates are marked with design specifications to help you get your design just right. Please note that all FRS templates may differ slightly from final manufacturing specifications, so make sure your print is versatile and flexible enough for production.

What can you win?
Each winner receives a one-off immediate prize of 200€ . plus one of their products when it arrives in stock. But that is not all - each & every time we sell 500 pieces of your design, you will receive an additional €200. This means that FRS can continue to embody the spirit of fashion democracy, rewarding our top designs again...and again...and again! We will also conduct an interview with the winner, publicizing their design across the fashion community in Berlin and worldwide.
